Growthpoint’s Link Bridge unites Sandton’s Key Destinations
Background: Growthpoint’s Role in Sandton
Growthpoint Properties, South Africa’s largest JSE-listed REIT, continues to shape the urban fabric of Sandton Central through strategic investments in infrastructure and placemaking. With a robust portfolio of premium office, retail, and mixed-use properties, the company is known for creating people-centric environments that enhance connectivity, value, and experience.
The recently launched Sandton Drive Link Bridge is a striking new development that reinforces Growthpoint’s leadership in redefining urban engagement. Connecting The Place at 1 Sandton Drive with the iconic Sandton City, the bridge is more than a passage, it’s a landmark that integrates offices, retail, and city living across the heart of Sandton Central.

A Collaborative Vision Realised
The success of this project rests on collaboration with key stakeholders including Sandton City, the City of Johannesburg, the Sandton Central Management District, and others.
“This bridge delivers on Growthpoint’s promise to tenants while contributing to Sandton’s transformation,” says Neil Schloss, Head of Asset Management at Growthpoint.
Growthpoint’s Head of Asset Management: Offices, Timothy Irvine, adds:“The Link Bridge enhances the entire precinct and reflects our strategy to offer premium business environments with standout amenities.”
From Sandton City’s perspective, the bridge is more than functional. It is symbolic of openness, safety, and elevated customer experience.
Dimitri Kokinos of Liberty Two Degrees noted the bridge as a “transformative step in enhancing urban connectivity.”
Elaine Jack from the Sandton Central Management District highlighted the bridge as a "substantial enhancement," praising Growthpoint’s continued contribution to the precinct’s value.
The Way Forward: Sandton’s Smart Evolution
As Sandton continues to evolve into Africa’s leading business and lifestyle district, investments like the Link Bridge are critical to enabling a more connected, walkable, and vibrant urban experience.
The project not only supports Growthpoint’s long-term asset strategy, but also contributes to wider urban regeneration, promoting public-private collaboration and placemaking principles that align with modern, sustainable city development.
In addition to this project, Growthpoint is actively investing in infrastructure, energy solutions, and other enhancements that elevate Sandton Central’s global stature.
“Thanks to all involved in this initiative over the years, Sandton Central is set to become an even more integrated, convenient, and people-friendly place for all who work, live, play, and visit,” concludes Irvine.
The Sandton Drive Link Bridge is more than a connection, it's a vision made tangible, linking not just places, but people, progress, and purpose.
